Bloco 3K, Melbourne's largest carnival drum and dance crew, hosts recurring open drumming sessions every Tuesday evening, with doors open to newcomers one week per month. Starting from April 14, 2026, at 6:30 PM, participants of all levels, including beginners, learn to play authentic Brazilian samba percussion instruments like Surdo, Caixa, and Tamborim, with all drums provided. Led by samba pioneers Rob Arcari, the Mestre de Bateria with extensive Rio experience, and Denise Kayan, the Rainha de Bateria, the sessions promote Brazilian music and culture through energetic rehearsals at North Melbourne Community Centre. Samba dance classes are also available on the first Tuesday of the month. The first session costs $10, fostering an inclusive environment for sharing passion and fun.
