After Hours Untying Knots In The Sky by Fine Arts and Music at Melbourne

Untying knots in the sky is an experimental sound performance by Archie Barry and Aarti Jadu, part of the new monthly After Hours series at the Potter Museum of Art. The world premiere occurs on 16 April 2026, with a return performance on 21 May 2026, both from 7:00 PM to 7:45 PM in the Primrose Potter Studio. Artists use stethoscopes to amplify heart rates as live accompaniment to their singing, exploring vocalisation, breathwork, meditation, and bodily synchronicity amid themes of connection and political turbulence. Each evening also includes a floor talk: April features Associate Curator Shanysa McConville on recent collection acquisitions, while May highlights Gracia Haby, Louise Jennison, and Pippa Milne on a work about Australian velvet ants. Pre-event happy hour specials are available from 3-6 PM at the Residence bar. This intimate duet invites audiences to witness the dissolution of boundaries between inner experience and outward expression through shared breathing.
