Womaloya Trans-Oceanic Music by The Coolroom at The Northern Arts Hotel

Womaloya Trans-Oceanic Music presents a unique collaboration between artists from Réunion Island and Australia, blending traditional Maloya with contemporary sounds featuring Katy Toave, Maelle Phileas, Emily Sheppard, Flora Carbo, and Rosie Rayah Light. This single-day performance on 9 April 2026 from 7:30pm to 10pm takes place at The Coolroom at the Northern Arts Hotel in Castlemaine. The event stems from a 2024 residency and precedes a 2026 compositional residency in Hobart, resulting in a suite of new music inspired by the track Koté Ou. Held in an intimate active listening venue known for diverse musical experiences, it offers an evening of cross-cultural fusion in a relaxed atmosphere.
