Assorted Sporks Poetry Writing Group by Suburban Discomfort

The Assorted Sporks Poetry Writing Group is a monthly recurring workshop held on the second Sunday of the month, starting 10 May 2026 at Mamma Chen's in Footscray. Participants can bring poems or works in progress for feedback, join free write sessions, writing prompts, or exercises to overcome writer's block, with occasional songs for inspiration. Facilitated by experienced poets Loran Steinberg and Es Foong, the sessions from 1:30pm to 4pm emphasize useful and friendly feedback, performance practice, and inclusivity—no one is turned away for lack of funds. Tickets are $20 or flexible pricing, making it accessible to all levels of writers, especially beginners and those returning after a break.
