Openings A Contact Improvisation Foundations Series by A Backhouse and J Hing

Openings is a three-week contact improvisation foundations series for beginners and those returning to the practice, held every Wednesday from April 29 to May 13, 2026, at 6-8pm AEST. Facilitated by movement artist Pip, each session builds progressively: Week 1 explores independent interdependence and solo movement in shared space; Week 2 focuses on sharing weight for mutual support; Week 3 emphasizes moving within the collective field. Sessions end with a jam for open exploration, and drop-ins are welcome alongside the recommended full series. The practice involves physical partner work, touch, and improvisation in a church venue in Clifton Hill.
