This single-day event at Unley Town Hall on 2 May 2026 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM features Dr Julia Miller discussing crime in the Regency era through Jane Austen's writing, drawing from her book Crime and Prejudice, shortlisted for the Comedy Women in Print prize 2025. Gillian Dooley, author of She Played and Sang: Jane Austen and Music, performs with friends a selection of songs Austen enjoyed, highlighting her dark humour and musical taste. Bookings are essential with a $5 non-refundable fee, available from 24 March via Eventbrite or phone. The afternoon talk and performance blend literary analysis and live music centered on Austen's world.
