'America' by Fred Smith is a single-day folk music performance on 16 May 2026, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Maleny Community Centre. Australian folk singer Fred Smith and his band take audiences on a musical journey through the United States, blending songs from his albums Texas and Great with stories and commentary on American politics, history, and culture. Drawing from his unique experiences including a US merchant mariner’s licence, work on cruise ships, interstate travel, and time with US soldiers in Afghanistan, Smith offers humour, insight, and depth. The show features a bar, licensed venue with BYO supper allowed, and doors open at 6:30 PM. Supported by Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and Regional Arts Development Fund.
