Exhibition Opening Djalkiri by Shine BrightX

The Exhibition Opening for Djalkiri: The Bula'bula Arts Archiving Project takes place on 30 April 2026 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at Delmar Gallery. Curated by Coby Edgar, the event features the official launch at 6:00pm by Keith Munro, Director of First Nations Arts and Culture at the Museum of Contemporary Art, with representatives from Bula'bula Arts present. This exhibition showcases artworks remade and reinterpreted from the community's cultural archive, sparked by an 18-month project in 2024 to protect and revitalise Ramingining's heritage over the past 40 years. The title Djalkiri, meaning 'footsteps', symbolises honouring ancestors while stepping forward, led by figures like Andrew Wanamililil and Daphne Banyawarra. Supported by Creative Australia and the Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support program, it offers a reflective celebration of Indigenous pride and creativity.
